Only in August in Great Falls!

Great Falls is Montana’s Basecamp for Art and Adventure…and there’s an extra emphasis on the art in August!  The 6th Annual ArtsFest MONTANA will draw eight talented street artists from all over the world to Great Falls.  The artists will spend a week creating colorful and beautiful murals on buildings downtown, adding to the 43 already here! Watch these creations in progress and meet the artists.  Check out a compilation of past works in progress here!

Here are some other events you can only find in Great Falls, Montana this August:

• Explore culture and food from around the world in Great Falls at the Montana Cultural Fair! 
• The Montana State Fair continues with food, rides, carnival fun, rodeo action, and performances by Tape Face, Juff Dunham, The Newsboys, and more!
• Try your hand at traditional games with the Mammoth Hunt at First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park.
• Explore an illuminated section of the River’s Edge Trail at the Luminaria Walk.
• Experience the Little Shell Pow Wow. 
• Parmalee makes their lone Montana stop at The Newberry.
• The Newberry is also HED PE‘s sole Montana performance.
• Voyagers Stadium in Great Falls is the only Montana concert stop for country artist Craig Morgan!
• Watch the film premiere of The Spirit of the People: Black Eagle and the Anaconda Company with Dick Sloan Second Saturday at The History Museum.

 

The Brother Van House Museum, one our 12 museums in Great Falls, is available to tour year-round; but for a few weeks this summer, the museum has extended consistent hours.  Learn about Brother Van for free Tuesday-Friday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. through August 2nd, 2024.  In preparation, you can hear all about Montana’s Best Loved Man on episode 132 of our podcast We’re No Dam Experts.  Can’t make it in early August? No need to worry, you can schedule an appointment and tour anytime!

Ongoing summer events not exclusive to August:

• The Great Falls Farmers’ Market is every Saturday through the end of September with Thursday evening markets outside the new Scheels Aim High Big Sky Aquatic and Recreation Center through August.
• Tour art galleries at First Friday Art Walk!
• Fantastic Montana and regional bands perform throughout the summer at The Beacon.
• Downtown Summer Jam wraps up with Lecade in August!
• Downtown Night Markets happen once a month this summer, including in August.
• The Great Falls Municipal Band plays most Wednesday evenings during the summer.
• Learn the history of the area with Jump Talks every Sunday through August at First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park.
• Test your knowledge at Trivia in the Park every Tuesday at Giant Springs State Park.
• Dirt track racing at the Electric City Speedway continues  through Labor Day weekend.
• Enjoy America’s pastime with the Great Falls Voyagers!
