Only in May in Great Falls!
Flowers are blooming, the river runs full, and the sun is shining (unless of course we get a random snowstorm, which is known to happen from time to time in North Central Montana). Stretch your legs and shake off the winter blues along 53 miles of our River’s Edge Trail, try your hand at disc golf at one of three courses, or bring your binoculars for a glimpse of birds and other wildlife at Benton Lake National Wildlife Refuge.
The Falls
We have not one, but FIVE falls here in Great Falls! They can be seen any time of year (well, except for the one that’s always submerged), but something special happens in May – access to the island at the base of Ryan Dam (THE Great Falls) opens for the season on Mother’s Day. You can always see THE Great Falls from the parking area, but Ryan Island, accessed by walking across a short suspension bridge, provides the best vantage point, along with historical information about both the Corps of Discovery and power from the dam.
Sip, Savor, and Discover the Best Mimosa in Great Falls
The Greatest Dam Mimosa Showdown is back for its 6th year! Sip and vote your way through unique mimosa creations. Local bars and restaurants are expected to compete with one-of-a-kind mimosas for the title of “The Greatest Dam Mimosa! With mimosa names like “Fruity Loopy,” “Monkey Moon,” and “Superdork” it’s sure to be a dam good time.
