Snowshoeing

Only in February in Great Falls!

After the holiday season and the long month of January, it’s time to get some fresh Montana air and get moving outside!  The Great Falls area offers so many outdoor opportunities, including 53 miles of River’s Edge Trail, 57 city parks in town, and a vast wilderness to explore just minutes away!  Aside from downhill skiing at Montana’s first ski resort Showdown Montana, you can trek across the forest floor on cross-country skis or snowshoes.  You can rent snowshoes, cross-country skis, or skate skis from our friends at Bighorn Outdoor Specialists.  You can also rent snowshoes for free at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.

Kick off February and learn to snowshoe or cross-country ski for FREE at Winter Trails Day at Silver Crest Winter Recreation Area on February 1st! Eleven separate guided snowshoe hikes will be offered throughout the day, along with two guided cross-county ski tours.  You can also learn to cross-country ski for FREE on February 8th at Silver Crest Trails!
