March in Montana Show

The March in Montana show and sale is sure to be a main attraction. With great collections from Montana, Florida, Chicago, Missouri, Washington, and Tucson we anticipate a large crowd once again.

Two Bohlin saddles along with an engraved Henry rifle and a Conrad Ulrich engraved 1866 Winchester rifle highlight the Western memorabilia part of the sale. Our Native American beadwork is off the charts as we feature many items from the Nineteenth century with a Crow Shirt owned by the chief White Bull sure to garner a great deal of attention.

Last year our collectors couldn’t get enough of our weavings so this year we have ramped it up with over 80 pieces. With large collections from Tucson, AZ and New Mexico collectors have a wide variety of choices. Several large pieces will be jaw droppers when our live crowd takes a look.

If you’re a William Gollings fan then we are the place to be. A super selection of his hard to find etchings as well as two great oils will surely be fan favorites. A wonderful oil by Olaf Seltzer will also leave the crowd at the historic Elks Club glad they came. Of course, we are known for the great oils and bronzes by Montana artists Ace Powell, Bob Scriver, and Earl Heikka.

We set the world record for the works of Glacier Park woodcarver John L Clarke last year and this March we will once again offer 6 works by him. Five of the wonderful pieces come from a collection in Massachusetts, most came direct from the Clarke family.

Over the last few years we have been proud to offer a section of items dedicated to Native American artists past and present. This year we will have two sections, one on Friday and one Saturday. The main attraction will be an oil by Jaune “Quick to See” Smith, several works by Assiniboine artist William Standing, works by Spokane Tribe artist George Flett as well as Apache artist Allan Houser.

Don’t miss the best galleries and dealers when you venture to Great Falls. The show runs Thursday through Saturday along with our preview of over 750 lots. In addition to live bidding our 2024 auction will be online, via Bidsquare and iCollector. Telephone and absentee bidders are always available but there is no experience like being in the crowd and feeling the energy and excitement that our auctioneer Troy Black can bring to the sale.
