Voices of Christmas, an annual tradition, comes to the Mansfield Theater for an amazing evening of 250 musicians creating a wall of sound like never before. This year’s concert features the Great Falls Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Choir joined by the choir from Great Falls College MSU. All weekend, in anticipation of this phenomenal performance, take in all the events in Great Falls Montana that make this a truly magical time of the year.
Art & Culture abounds in Great Falls, and nowhere is that more apparent than at the CM Russell Museum. The Museum houses over 100 works that depict the harsh, beautiful, and adventurous world of Charlie’s West. The famed Cowboy Artist created most of his art in his adjoining studio that you can tour. Experience the newest exhibit Indian Country | The Art of David Bradley that tells stories and histories not often heard by non-Native people or understood from a non-Native perspective. Saturated with a powerful Native voice and visual descriptions, Bradley’s artwork depicts historical, social, and political truths, personal narrative, and cultural critique.
You’re no doubt ready for lunch, and downtown Great Falls boasts several eateries that serve lunch in a unique setting, My favorite place is Electric City Coffee & Bistro, where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and special dinners. The ambiance allows you to visit with your friends, make new friends, and enjoy people watching in an upscale setting. It’s always fun to try something new, and Electric City Coffee & Bistro always has new items, specials, and seasonal dishes that showcase the agricultural heritage of Central Montana.
Enjoy a local favorite, the Luminaria Tours on the Great Falls Trolley. The tours are the perfect way to experience Great Falls, and will inspire you to explore more! In the comfortable climate-controlled vehicle, you will enjoy a memorable experience with warm hospitality as you see the best holiday lighting displays throughout the city. What makes the Luminaria Tours unique are that people from around the city enthusiastically decorate their homes in the hopes that the Trolley will choose their home during the tour, so you’ll be treated to homes that have been decorated with the intention to be seen.
On Saturday morning, enjoy a breakfast like no other before your weekend like no other. Get your picture taken with Santa, make crafts, and more while you have Breakfast with Santa at the Paris Gibson Education Center. After breakfast with Santa, take an easy drive to experience Virgelle dressed up for the holiday season. The Virgelle Mercantile is a seasonal destination for shoppers, visitors, and friends throughout Central Montana. Come to Virgelle to experience this old ghost town decked out for the holiday season. Delicious refreshments served by the old cook stove in our kitchen.
After experiencing a Country Christmas and finding the perfect gift for everyone on your list, you’ll be ready for dinner, and maybe some live music. There’s no better place for both than the Celtic Cowboy, where you can relax in the Irish-style pub and enjoy authentic Fish and Chips (my favorite), steak, or other delight in this award-winning restaurant.
Sunday morning, enjoy a traditional brunch with a twist; swimming mermaids and mermen in the world-famous Sip n Dip Lounge. Feast on brunch favorites and try a blue Mermosa as you marvel at the unexpected surprise of Montana’s best Tiki lounge.
After brunch, bundle up for an enjoyable walk along Rivers Edge Trail, where you can cross the Missouri over a pedestrian bridge, marvel at a few of the 24 pieces of Urban Art, and enjoy the crisp winter air. Find your way to the pond at Gibson Park where you can ice skate! Yes, the classic winter experience is yours to be had all afternoon in the heart of Downtown Great Falls.
