We don’t hibernate during winter in Great Falls, Montana

If you’re reading this, you’re probably not a bear, so you don’t have to hibernate during the winter. In Great Falls, we don’t stop enjoying the area just because we have to wear a warmer coat, and neither should you. Just a few minutes away is Montana’s first ski hill, Showdown Montana. Showdown has a relaxed atmosphere, full rental shop, and there isn’t a line to get on one of the three ski lifts. With live music most weekends and fun competitions throughout the season, it’s our top attraction during winter. If skiing isn’t your thing, we recommend taking your shot at snowshoeing in town, or at Silver Crest Trails, which is near Showdown Montana. At Silver Crest Trails, you can also cross-country ski and enjoy the stunning views. Want something easier than snowshoeing? Try fat-biking at Gibson Park. Take a short drive to Freezeout Lake and watch a dam big migration of over 10,000 birds. And yes, go on the River’s Edge Trail and enjoy the stunning view of a winter wonderland.
