What’s better than outdoor music on a warm summer night? Good friends and great music create an unforgettable experience and this summer, Great Falls offers a variety of music unrivaled by big name festivals. Grab a comfy chair and get ready to create amazing memories with a summer of outdoor music in Montana’s Basecamp for Art & Adventure.
Enjoy an evening of music and culture in the heart of Downtown at the Music in the Park Summer Concert Series. At each concert, you’ll hear something new every week from jazz, bluegrass, folk, rock, and more to the Great Falls Public Library Park every Tuesday evening this summer. All shows are free and open to the public, and we have always enjoyed the concerts we have attended. I love jazz, and there is just something about listening to jazz live in a park on a summer evening.
Every Wednesday during the summer, Gibson Park hosts the Great Falls Municipal Band where they perform a variety of music from the Great American songbook during their outdoor concerts. We make a point to ride our bikes downtown, enjoy dinner, and walk to Gibson Park. We have enjoyed shows where the band played the Sound of Music soundtrack, 4th of July songs, and a modern take on Gilbert & Sullivan classics. You’ll never know what you’ll hear, so expect the unexpected!
Music on the Mo is an amazing summer concert series that has become a must-experience event with family and friends! On Thursday evenings during the summer there is no better place to enjoy live music, food vendors, family-friendly activities, and local craft brews. Local vendors set up a market to offer shopping opportunities and there are plenty of kids activities to entertain the family! The Cornhole League kicks off at the first Music on the Mo event and continue through the summer with the championship held at the end of summer bash!
New in 2018 is the Downtown Summer Jam, a partnership between Enbar, Mighty Mo Brewing Company, and Downtown Great Falls to bring top-tier musical talent to Great Falls. This year’s lineup includes Waterloo Revival, a country duo from Austin that rose to fame with Hit the Road and Bad for You. Austin Jenckes from Seattle released his first single Same Beer Different Day to critical acclaim. Rolling Stone named him one of their 10 Artists You Need To Know. Rounding out the Downtown Summer Jam is Cadillac Three, a group that has been touring for 15 years and is known for hits such as White Lighting and The South.
During the Lewis & Clark Festival, Gibson Park becomes the backdrop of a Bluegrass concert. Laney Lou & The Birddogs open for The Farm Hands from Nashville, TN. This is real-deal Bluegrass during one of the biggest festivals in Great Falls. The music will have you tapping your toes, swaying to the beat, and enjoying a family-friendly night of music in Gibson Park.
The Great Falls Farmer’s Market is an unexpected place to enjoy outdoor music, but every Saturday, you’ll find live music from a variety of artists while you stroll through the vibrant outdoor market. Several times when we have taken our son, he has begun dancing to the music and clapping after each performer finishes their set. Top it off with a pony ride and fresh donuts, and you’ve got a perfect morning in Great Falls!
The Beer & Gear Festival is Montana’s premiere craft brew fest and outdoor expo. Enjoy live music while you sample Montana microbrews and vote for your favorite. We always look forward to the Beer & Gear festival and the accompanying Beyond the Dam bike ride because they combine our favorite things about Great Falls; live music, craft beer, and outdoor adventure! Last year, we enjoyed strolling the grounds as music from local and regional bands played. While we chatted with friends old and new, kids played games in the park and we planned for a great summer!
If you’re craving even more music, venues throughout Great Falls host live music every night. This summer, there is no shortage of music and we invite you to experience it all!
